Today Arianna and I had a mother/daughter date, so we decided to risk getting a little wet and go rollarblading. She'd never rollarbladed before, but fits into Tiara's old skates perfectly, so we got all ready to go and started towards Geilenkirchen. Then it started pouring, so I headed in a different direction and ended up at Trips Burg where there are really nice paved, long, straight, flat trails, perfect for beginners. It was raining, but wasn't coming down too hard, so we went out. At first Arianna was just scooting along, walking on them more than skating. So, I told her to get into first position (ballet) and she did. Then I showed her how to move her feet out. Ten minutes later she was pushing me away. She didn't need me to help her or hold her hand. She fell three times and never wanted help getting up. She was great!

A teen sped by on rollarblades. I saw her coming and had Arianna turn around to watch. Her jaw dropped open and her eyes got big. She was so surprised that someone could go that fast. It's a challenge now. She wants to skate more. If you look at the larger version of this photo, you can see drips of water coming down her helmet. But, it wasn't very cold and the rain didn't bother us. After 40 minutes , Arianna got tired and wanted to go out for ice cream, so we headed back watching the baby cows along the way.

Flowers along the river where she skated. I walked along the bank taking pictures of flowers and cows. Arianna liked the independence of scooting along by herself.
