Valentine's Day came early this year. Of course, the girls parties had to be on the Friday before, so Elise had her party and then we went over to the school to celebrate with mounds of goodies in Luci's class - the parents brought so many assorted sweets in that we loaded up their Valentine's envelopes with all the candy and then even after the 20ish kids went through the sugar buffet line twice and were completely pin-balling around the room, there was still enough left over for the vulturous parents to munch and then take home for their Valentine boxes. One of the parents had made about 50 cute little red rice crispy treat hearts and then wrapped each individually in baggies and tied them with a bow (yes, she only has one child) - so I grabbed a few of those to regift and each of my girls got one the next morning in their V-day box. More sugar in Arianna's class. Elise had already had her own party and sugar in Luci's, but walked into A's class, said, "I'm hungry," and was immediately given another big cupcake by A's teacher. Elise has spent so much time in her sisters classes that she is perfectly comfortable there as are the teachers with her, so she played with Luci's friends at recess and hung out with Arianna later while I ran around taking yearbook photos.

Arianna's class had so many cupcakes that only half got eaten, so she ran all over the school to teachers and staff handing out treats - she even delivered treats to teachers she doesn't know. Such a sweetie.

Kirk got home with roses for everyone. The girls each got two beautiful roses and he spoiled me with a huge bouquet. They are gorgeous! Totally surprised me. Then we went out sans kinder to a new sushi restaurant in Sittard called TR&TA. Cool name, huh? They pronounce it "Trenta."

Delicious!! This was the best Sushi place I've been to in a while. They didn't have a lot of rolls, but the sashimi was so fresh and I was even brave enough to try a couple things I hadn't before - the sea bass and the eel.

The atmosphere was fantastic - modern and clean, classy and elegant. Beautiful water fountains and a nice fireplace with couches around it. They had beautiful dishes and nice presentation. It felt good to be there.

The bites in the photo were a free sample brought to us before our meal - a special treat for Valentine's weekend.

I had saffron soup (saffraansoep met roodbaarsfilet) -- light, creamy, flavorful, and delicious. It wet my appetite without spoiling it.

To drink - the Catarratto - a medium white wine. Light, delicious. Not dry nor sweet. Excellent with my meal.

We ordered the 16 piece Sashimi Menu and the TR&TA 20 piece sushi menu and split it. Kirk was so sweet - though the salmon is his favorite, he just had one piece and then let me stuff myself on the rest. I could have eaten a whole plate of it. It was so delicious.

For dessert we ordered the chocolademousse - three mounds of chocolate mousse with a light vanilla sauce and some crunchy dessert wafers on top. The cappuccinos were as amazing as the rest of the menu.

After dinner they brought out a little pink felt heart envelope with a business card, a necklace, and a coupon for 10% off our next visit - a special gift for Valentine's day! What a nice touch! Kirk and I will definitely be back.

So, Valentine's Day was fabulous! Loved every minute. Even crowds of valentine swapping kids on sugar highs were fun.

I think it's nice. The whole mass Valentine thing. It's kind of sweet. I have a box of strawberry shortcake ones... watch out... you may get one in the mail! :)
