I am not normally afraid of spiders unless they are, of course, threatening me with bodily harm or invading my personal space i.e. climbing on me, lurking above me, or propelling off the wall towards me. I do not run screaming at the sight of a spider, nor do I freeze in fright and stutter out a desperate cry for help. After all, I was a farm girl once, a long, long time ago, when I was much smaller. So, when, upon entering my living room this fine day, I caught sight of an unusually large arachnid, it took me a bit off guard that I should have a slight tinge of anxiety at the sight of it. I took a couple pictures, but would not get close enough to catch it and take it outside. There was an irrational fear that it would maliciously jump out at me and wrap me up for dinner. After a reasurring internet search I found that he was just a common house spider, but who wouldn't be intimidated by his 3" span?
