Yesterday Elise was running around the house with a bare bottom,
so at one point, I picked her up, patted her bottom and said, "Bare butt!" to which she replied,
"I don't have a bear butt. I have a girl butt!"
So, summer is not so summery here. I had the list of a million and one great places to take the kids this summer all planned out, but now each day the clouds roll in just in time to rain on our plans, and then when we've settled into the idea of staying home, the sun shines and taunts us to rethink them. Again, just as the shoes go on, it will rain again. I think the sun and the clouds are playing a really drawn out game of hide and seek and we earthlings here are just the poor victims. The sun, unfortunately, is the better player and doesn't stay out long enough to dry the playgrounds or to make the hour long to some great location worth the risk of torrential downpours. It feels like winter. I seem to remember last June being like this... may be it will end by August. Either that or I will sprout some webbed feet.
The photo? Desperate to get outside no matter what the conditions, this last heavy downpour brought my three youngest girls running upstairs to find me begging excitedly for umbrellas. So, I gave in. Aria and Luci played in the ran with umbrellas, stomping in puddles and getting soaked despite the colorful covers. Elise ran around in her purple rain coat, splashing, and crouching under sister's umbrella when the heaviest rains hit. Tante Tinny thinks we're a bit crazy, but she's used to it now and doesn't think twice when the thunder claps are followed with the peals of laughter and giggles from my girls playing outside her door.

Quotes to consider...
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."
-Albert Einstein
What the heart has once owned and had, it shall never lose."

It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped. -- Anthony Robbins
We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing. -- George Bernard Shaw

A friend is someone who will help you move. A real friend is someone who will help you move a body. -- anon
The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory. -- Paul Fix
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge you’ll never walk alone … The best thing to hold onto in life is each other. ~Audry Hepburn
