The first cross is on a tiny country road between Teveren and Bocket. The second is in Gillrath between the fork in the road.

I've mentioned before how beautiful the roadside crosses and chapels are here. When we first got here, it was a beautiful contrast to my own country where Christian images are being pushed out of public space. Here, religion is part of the culture and is still accepted as such. People pay taxes to the church, religion is taught in schools, and crosses are mounted on the sides of people's homes. Catholic blessings are written in chalk above most doorways. I like the crosses here. They are abundant - and always beautiful and well cared for. And, I think no matter what religion one is, they can be simple reminders of the many blessings in our lives.

These two crosses are found on different corners in Teveren, a small village between Geilenkirchen and the base.
