I miss Jiffy Lube. $30, 30 minutes (or less) while you wait reading your complementary newspaper.
Here, I have NorAuto - 130 Euros, 4 hours, not even a magazine.
Today I went with Kirk to get the oil changed at our "local" Jiffy Lube. At least it's "Jiffy" for Spain. It took time to get the information for his truck. Here, each vehicle is sold with a detailed "specs" sheet that tells the mechanic everything he could ever want to know and more, so without that, it's a bit more complicated. But soon enough, the man thought he'd found the correct filter and the errand boy from the parts shop ran it over within 10 minutes. "It will be done in two hours," we were told, so walked over to the mall for a surprisingly good lunch and a bit of shopping, then returned at the 3 hour point. Our Ford was up on the rack, but nothing had been done. They didn't have the filter and they weren't sure how to get it. I helped them find the VIN number so they could make some more calls. Eventually, they called the Ford dealership a couple towns over and had the filter delivered. Nice people, the job got done, but 4 hours? Ugh. Is nothing in Spain fast?
The silver lining was the skirt that was only 10% off last week and was 50% off today and in my size and the blessing of a friend who could pick up my girls at the bus stop while we sat stuck at the car place.

Quotes to consider...
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."
-Albert Einstein
What the heart has once owned and had, it shall never lose."
-- Henry Ward Beecher
It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped. -- Anthony Robbins
We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing. -- George Bernard Shaw
An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered. -- GK Chesterton
The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson
For most of history, Anonymous was a woman. -- Virginia Woolf
A friend is someone who will help you move. A real friend is someone who will help you move a body. -- anon
The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory. -- Paul Fix
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge you’ll never walk alone … The best thing to hold onto in life is each other. ~Audry Hepburn
I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it. -- Thomas Jefferson
