We saw two plays, actually, both written, directed, and starring the talented Arianna Stahlbaum.   In The Explorer, a stage opens upon a jungle full of wild animals, green fabrics artistically display the grassy plains, a pool of cool water sits in the foreground.  The explorer enters, surveys the scene, finds interesting plant specimens, and drinks from the cool pond startled by the dolphin within.  A lion lurks first timidly, then scares the poor explorer.  Soon a great flood takes over and the explorer is washed away.
Eaten is a ballet in which the characters, all quite talented dancers, frolic in and off the stage in an intense dramatization of the food chain.  Water swishes this way and that.  The swan gracefully swims oblivious of the dangers around her, and the lion lurks ferociously, terrifying the audience members as much as the poor swan she's after.  This sad story ends with the lion happily lunching on swan.
