To date, though I haven't really kept you up well on the pain of adjusting to school here, I can tell you that my girls have all come to a point of equilibrium. Though all yearn for Germany and none will declare any sort of love for this school, they all are content enough, for the most part.
I have begun to hear complaints from all four; however, that they must write and spell in British at school. Luci even complained that she has to refer to me as "mum," and don't get her started on the way they spell color! Tiara studies spelling for her science tests so that she can properly spell "oesophogus." Because if she spells like an American, it will be counted wrong.
And we are all learning new translations.
Popsicle = Lolly (In Germany, lolly = lollypop or sucker)
Candy Cane = Rock (Why?)
Caramel Apple = Toffee Apple
Candies (small wrapped ones) = Chews
Chips = Crisps
Jelly Beans = Jellies
Cotton Candy = Candy Floss

I wonder when people learn that language is a living thing? Learned british english in school ... lived in the US for a while and I must say, US english is much attractive to me.
Lolly is one to say it in German - Lutscher is an other ;)
I think that US English is more simplified which is nice.
Yes, language is always changing and evolving... it's fun to travel and to learn not only the differences, but the many similarities between languages.
Lutscher - I've heard that word many times... it's just the German spelling that gives me fits! ;)
