It's not only children who grow. Parents do too. As much as we watch to see what our children do with their lives, they are watching us to see what we do with ours. I can't tell my children to reach for the sun. All I can do is reach for it, myself. ~Joyce Maynard

Some of us will be taking a ceremonial day off to enjoy a day of pampering.  Sleeping in, breakfast in bed, flowers, hugs and kisses.  Some will wake up early and make pancakes.  Some will clean the kitchen and do laundry and take care of things like any other day.  Some are working overtime - sick kids, single moms... it's not always possible to take a day off.  But we're all moms.  So even if it's a moment, a deep breath to breath in all that motherhood is and all that we have to be grateful for... that's enough.  Just the title is a tremendous gift.  Let's just take a moment to revel in all that "mom" is.  It is work - hard work.  Snotty noses on clean black shirts, chocolate kisses on clean white shirts.  Tears.  But it's priceless.  Those moments when we get a glimpse of the beautiful young people they are growing into.  Those tender moments when they reach out to us.  To let us know that while they are growing we are still needed.  Those moments that make us burst with pride and happy tears.  Hugs, kisses, cuddles on the couch, teamwork, laughter, green milk on April fool's day.

I'm proud of my girls and so thankful that I get to be their mom.

Today was Mother's Day, but we celebrated Elise today.  On Tuesday she'll turn 6 and Kirk will be working, so we had our family party today.  Crepes for breakfast.  A cake that Tiara made and decorated.  Presents.  And those happy craters, dimples on Elise' smiling face.

I got my cards from the girls last week - the ones they made at school all addressed to "Mum."

For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
