Fever's set in. The US plays England and we are pumped. Ok, pumped on one hand and a bit nervous on the other. No telling how much razzing we'll get from our British friends if the US team gets whomped.
We dodge a thunderstorm spending the sunniest part of the day lounging by the pool at the club on its first day open for the summer. It's beautiful, warm. The kids are happy and I am in a lounge chair with a good book.
Home in time for the US/England game. The ball ROLLS OVER the English goalie's hands and the US actually SCORES A GOAL!!!! Amazing. England scores one. The game ends. Tied. But that's good. Soccer isn't "the" sport in the US. We can't expect to compete on the same level. Tied is good. Tied is great. Day two of the World Cup and all four of my girls have caught the fever as well.
