Just a few of the 149 windmills here at the Wild Horse

As if a house of 5 women isn't windy enough, we joined the rest of the Stahlbaum clan on top of the dry central Washington hills at the site of the Wild Horse wind farm.  Why?  Well, two reasons.  One, we really wanted to be the first visitors from Spain so that we could stick the little red pin in the vistor map.  And two, because the hats are sexy.  Hats?  Really?  Supposedly this is a safety thing, but then I wonder if we should have worn hats while hugging the windmills in Germany as well?

Really, though Europe seems to be covered with these oversized pinwheels, it was interesting to be up close an personal, to learn that even the smallest environmental factors like the fate of the precious hedgehog cactus would be taken into consideration, and to learn that it takes just eight Stahlbaums to hug a windmill.

We shared a picnic with a view.  I was thrilled that we could remove our hats for picnicking.  "Hathead" was ill affecting my "wind blown."
