I remember when I was about five, my best friend moved away. His name was Jason and he had a really cool house and a dog and a sit-and-spin. He was the first person I ever cried over. And I absolutely bawled.
So it hurts me now to see my little girl going through those same pains with a little boy that she loves. Nevan is her best friend and his last day of school is tomorrow. She's cried over him three nights now. Tonight she made a card for him. She wrote inside, "I really miss you. I love you" and she drew a picture of the two of them together.
Saturday was his birthday party and a time for all his friends to say good-byes. They had it at the bowling ally on base, so when they weren't bowling, they played on the big climbing structure inside. Nevan had a race track cake with cars on it and made the funniest face when he accidentally chomped down on a certs mint that his mom had used in decorating it. He's a great kid. I think I'll even miss him. He's one of those great personalities that just brightens up a room and makes everyone laugh.
He's moving to Oklahoma though... we might see him again. That's what I'm telling Arianna. She can write to him and send cards and email. And, in a few years, she just might see him again. We hope so.
Luci tried bowling that day and surprised me by how she took to it. Now she wants to bowl every week. Arianna can only handle bowling about 4 frames, so she started, got tired, and then Luci finished. I think Luci enjoys it more. Poor Arianna tried to throw the ball. It went part way down, then slowed down, came to a brief stop, then started rolling back towards her. Bowling is just not her thing.

Quotes to consider...
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."
-Albert Einstein
What the heart has once owned and had, it shall never lose."
-- Henry Ward Beecher
It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped. -- Anthony Robbins
We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing. -- George Bernard Shaw
An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered. -- GK Chesterton
The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson
For most of history, Anonymous was a woman. -- Virginia Woolf
A friend is someone who will help you move. A real friend is someone who will help you move a body. -- anon
The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory. -- Paul Fix
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge you’ll never walk alone … The best thing to hold onto in life is each other. ~Audry Hepburn
I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it. -- Thomas Jefferson
