I've always been a beach comber. All time stops when I'm at the beach... to the great dismay of my family who are constantly begging me to come back to reality. "Oh... just one more shell. That one over there is so pretty. Oh... I see another one... just another minute. Pleeeeease." This is the time when Tiara acts more like the adult and I am the child who won't listen.

There are no beaches in the vicinity, but the chestnuts are almost as addictive. They really are beautiful. Next year I'll have to come up with some good chestnut recipes and roast them. Mine are all gone now. They don't save well and I wasn't ready to roast them.

These beautiful nuts bring people together here - it's very sweet to see. Along the side of the road driving home the last few days I've seen families out under the chestnut trees hitting the upper limbs with sticks and gathering the nuts below. They are a traditional food here this season and the people seem very happy to be out together in this beautiful weather filling their bags. Under the base trees are families as well with wagons and bags of all sizes gathering nuts for the holidays ahead.
