Each day there is some beautiful thing that gets my attention. Today on a drive, it was the sky. The weather is crisply autumn and the skies are a deeper blue and up ahead of me as I drove, contrail lines striped the sky like a man's collared shirt. Five or six planes must have passed that way leaving an unusal number of stripes in the sky - all together in parallel. It really was pretty and I was happy to notice it. I think God put those stripes there on purpose to distract me today because while I was in serene bliss distracted by the beauty in the sky, I had, in the back of my mind, the horrifying realization of the decible difference of two children screaming when moved from the third row of seats to the second row. At first it started out with loud cackles coming from Elise that while shocking in volume, made me laugh in return. Luci's laugh also brought a smile to my face and contributed to the scenery... but then the laughs turned into happy, but raucous shouts and screams. Ouch. My head was throbbing and my patience waning. That is when the clouds became my forced escape - either focus on the clouds or lose my mind. Friday I'm taking them to Spangdahlem. They'll definitely be sitting in the back seat.
