There is this narrow little road between Puzol's main street and the highway access. This little road is known as Cami, one of oh, a kazillion "cami" roads in Spain. It doesn't have a name because it doesn't need one. It's just a badly paved farm road of sorts that is half in Puzol and half in Puig and so no one really wants to take responsibility for it and if you really want to complain, well, don't because there's a perfectly good road with a proper name just a kilometer down the road that is taken car of.
People like to complain about this Cami though. After all, the potholes are many and deep as if Hannibal's elephants had been through recently. I think one is big enough for an elephant bath. It's certainly big enough to swallow a Smart car.
A few weeks ago, I was pleasantly surprised to see someone filling the holes. One man sat parked in a small rusty truck with a wood-slat fence around the flatbed. The other man slowly filled the potholes with his shovel-fulls of dirt from that truck, then stomped them down with his feet. It looked quite amateur. Amusing too. But who cares... for a day or two, at least until the next rain, the holes would be sparing elephants and cars alike.
But Valencia weather "is not normal" according to the locals. The rain in Spain... well, it keeps acomin'. And the dirt turned mud turned mud puddle and went ahead and washed away.
One thing that hasn't gone anywhere is the road block on that same stretch of road made from a few big rocks and... oranges. Yes, here where oranges are as plentiful as potholes, they make excellent barriers.
I think they need to reconsider the mud and fill these potholes with oranges. They may just do the trick. And if not, at least a patch of bright orange will act as a nice warning light to any car who dares pass by.
Really, I think this will work. Unless of course, someone is offering up a proper cement truck. But what am I thinking? This is Spain! Yeah, let's gather some oranges, folks, and have us a pot hole fillin' party on the cami road.

Quotes to consider...
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."
-Albert Einstein
What the heart has once owned and had, it shall never lose."
-- Henry Ward Beecher
It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped. -- Anthony Robbins
We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing. -- George Bernard Shaw
An adventure is only an inconvenience rightly considered. An inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered. -- GK Chesterton
The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn. -- Ralph Waldo Emerson
For most of history, Anonymous was a woman. -- Virginia Woolf
A friend is someone who will help you move. A real friend is someone who will help you move a body. -- anon
The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory. -- Paul Fix
For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge you’ll never walk alone … The best thing to hold onto in life is each other. ~Audry Hepburn
I am a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it. -- Thomas Jefferson
